Job Summary

Rising Sun seeks a Data & Operations Associate to support data management and lead operations responsibilities for the Climate Careers program in the Central Valley (San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, and Madera county). The Data & Operations Associate, Central Valley reports to the Climate Careers Senior Community Engagement Manager, supervises a temporary seasonal Data & Operations Coordinator and works closely with Climate Careers staff.

The Data & Operations Associate will be responsible for tracking, receiving, distributing, and managing Central Valley program inventory, supplies, and equipment. They will also conduct research and gather data to assess program outcomes and assist in program innovation. This individual will utilize, develop, and streamline Climate Careers’ operational systems to successfully fulfill this role. 

Climate Careers uses an employment social enterprise model to combine home energy and water-saving services with youth development. Our free Green House Call service consists of energy and water use assessments, installation of efficiency devices, and client education. Youth program participants deliver this service to thousands of homes every year, both virtually and in-person while growing personally and professionally, advancing on to paid externships with organizations doing climate-related work to increase their career exposure and experience.

To be considered for this position, you must have…

  • At least intermediate-level Excel and/or Google Sheets skills (e.g., pivot tables, data analysis functions), and have applied those skills in a work setting to utilize tracking systems, analyze data, and communicate information 
  • The ability to work in-person and on-site across the full 4-county territory when required (San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, and Madera County ), 
  • A passion, or belief in, the mission of a nonprofit focused on equity, climate, and

good jobs

  • The ability to work some flexible hours (e.g., occasional evenings and weekends)

A Data and Operations Associate is responsible for… 

Program Inventory Management

  • Support the Senior Manager with forecasting, pricing, testing, and purchasing of program inventory
  • Receive inventory deliveries and ensure proper, safe, and accessible storage 
  • Maintain a live tracking system that reflects accurate inventory and supplies; ensure Climate Careers staff is informed on how to care and be accountable for program materials and how to utilize tracking systems
  • Maintain and test program technology (i.e. Chromebooks and tablets) 
  • Monitor inventory discrepancies at summer site offices and cross reference Salesforce inventory data for alignment
  • Inform the Senior Manager on best practices and support in long-term ideation for inventory management (including adding new items to the inventory stock and determining alternative, secure storage locations to house inventory) that aligns with Rising Sun’s workforce development mission

Green House Calls Operations

  • Support the planning and implementation of site office set up and site office closing for Climate Careers Central Valley, including site office logistics, delivery of equipment and supplies, and management of utilities (4-5 site offices)
  • Support the planning and delivery of staff training for operations and processes
  • Provide direct operational support leading up to, during, and following the Climate Careers program implementation (inventory, IT equipment, supplies, forms, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and help temporary program staff resolve issues relating to IT e.g. printers ,computers
  • Support Central Valley Regional Managers in determining potential clients’ eligibility for Virtual Green House Calls, schedule kit building days, ensure supplies are available and ready, and coordinate shipment logistics
  • Construct and send out Green House Calls client reports

Program Data Support

  • Track progress, metrics, and outcomes for Green House Call and youth externship programs including, but not limited to, the tasks listed below
  • Utilize aspects of Climate Careers’ digital infrastructure (i.e. Salesforce and Google Suite) for all programmatic needs, upload data and run reports, collaboratively recommend system changes, if necessary
  • Create surveys for the Climate Careers Central Valley team for tracking metrics and deliverables e.g., youth retention rates, client satisfaction scores.
  • Collaborate with Climate Careers staff on continuous improvement of program evaluations
  • Build and maintain dashboards for internal and external programmatic presentations
  • Support Rising Sun's no-cost appliance program by auditing clients' application materials, determining program eligibility, and updating tracking systems to reflect any applicable changes
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

It’s a big PLUS if you have…

  • Experience in Salesforce and/or other CRM tools 
  • Experience managing large quantities of warehouse inventory
  • Worked with youth development and/or energy efficiency organizations
  • Experience creating dashboards and presenting and communicating data
  • Experience working with, supervising, and training staff members

This is a permanent, full-time, exempt, salaried, and benefited position with an annual salary of $69,180-$72,639 commensurate with experience. Rising Sun offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
